Holle Linnea Wlokas

 

Holle is a member of the Energy, Poverty and Development group.

 

Qualifications

Holle holds the equivalent of a Masters degree from the Freie Universitaet in Berlin, Germany in Political Science (Dipl- Politologin), and studied Political Science, Geography and Psychology for two years at the Rheinisch-Westfaelisch Technische Hochschule in Aachen. She came to UCT first as an international student and is trained in Project Management and Outcome Mapping.

 

Current research interests

  • Energy usage and services in (urban) informal settlements.

  • Renewable energy for low-income communities and households.

  • CDM and voluntary projects targeting alleviation of energy poverty.

 

Previous work experience

Recently graduated, she was involved during her time as a student in the monitoring and social research efforts in the Kuyasa CDM Project and subsequently led the social research in a pilot solar water heating project for the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. There followed a variety of internships and short term involvements with NGOs like Friends of the Earth in Germany and SouthSouthNorth and consultancies like Eco Ltd. and Restio Energy Ltd.
