Postgraduate study at ERC

ERC, based in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, offers study opportunities at both the Masters and Doctoral levels, leading to degrees awarded by the University of Cape Town.

The Masters programmes

Two Masters programme streams are available, centred respectively on energy technology and energy policy. The energy policy stream accepts students from a wide range of graduate programmes, while the energy technology stream focuses more on engineering graduates.  These two streams comprise a coursework component and a dissertation component.

Students also have the option of registering for a masters by dissertation only. This route opens opportunities for students who are unable to relocate to Cape Town but who have a good energy background to attend the structured courses.

Follow the links below for more information on the two Masters programmes:

Doctoral studies

No taught programmes are offered towards a PhD, but students may register either on a part-time or full-time basis if suitable supervision can be offered. Contact us for further information.
