Modelling the energy-water nexus

4 Apr 2017 - 10:30

A report has just been released by the World Bank, entitled "Modeling the water-energy nexus: How do water constraints affect energy planning in South Africa?" This research focuses on incorporating a representation of water supply and infrastructure costs into an energy systems model (SATIM-W) to better reflect the interdependent nature of the energy-water nexus in South Africa and the water supply challenges facing the energy system. The preliminary draft report was developed by a joint team from the Energy Research Centre: Adrian Stone, Bruno Merven, and Fadiel Ahjum.
